How can I tell the difference between latex stain and oil stain? (On my log home...)?

I would highly recommend our 199-42 natural tone ironozide crystals coatings because it is made for log homes and it reflects UV rays so that the logs don't deteriorate and are preserved to look beautiful. Or second, I would try a wood oil stain that even though is the best stain on the market it hardly compares to the 199-42. I would not at any cost recommend a latex paint or stain because the are not made for preserving wood or logs. How can I tell the difference between latex stain and oil stain? (On my log home...)?
Easiest way is to read the label. If thinning is done by water then...if by mineral spirits-well. If the can has no label then take a bit of stain on a stick and run it under water. It'll wash off completely if latex.
