Do nicotine stains on walls and trim bleed through latex primers?

do i have to use shellac or KILZ? which is better?Do nicotine stains on walls and trim bleed through latex primers?
Nicotine stains are water soluble and will be activated by the water in a latex primer or paint and bleed into the primer or paint.

Shellac or oil based stain blockers both work well on nicotine stains. I think you will find that the odor is less objectionable with shellac, and it doesn't linger as long as the oil based stain blockers.Do nicotine stains on walls and trim bleed through latex primers?
Zinser Bin 123 is a shellac based primer and Kilz comes in both oil based and water based. Kilz orginal/low VOC or odourless will do the job for you. Bleed through is frustrating when walls just been freshly painted. Read the label it will say cover and seal smoke stains. They are both good products

Past experience: before i got into this business, I painted my living room walls 6 times and still bleed through. Don't cut corners, it cost more money and time in the end.

Yes, nicotine does bleed through latex. I've found in my rental units which have had smokers, Zinsser stain blocking primer works the best with one coat to keep it from bleeding through.
KILZ will take care of it.
Yes. Use any oil based white undercoat
