How can I remove latex paint from antique brass fixtures?

I have antique brass and crystal doorknobs in my house. The last person to paint did it very sloppily, painting over parts and making a mess. How can I remove the latex paint without damaging the brass underneath? How can I remove latex paint from antique brass fixtures?
I luv how people say ';yeah I can paint'; and yet do sloppy work,,If it`s latex,,will come off with soap and water, rag and plastic scrapper. Do not smear. I use my finger nails which I think is the safest way. (Only if my nails are long)How can I remove latex paint from antique brass fixtures?
not for sure how you spell it....cutsit...something like that...get at walmart, lowes....it is a thick gel, you paint on, and after it sets awhile you just wipe it off...
I believe lacquer thinner will do it,you will need to scrub with a stiff plastic brush . You could also soak and it may just wipe off. That stuff is serious use gloves and a eye protection and do it outside as it has stiff fumes
