How long does it take for latex floor paint to dry enough to walk on? 2 put furniture on?to put down area rug?

The floor we painted is wood. The first coat was applied two days ago and the surface is still sticky/tacky. We are going to apply the second coat today because the instructions on the paint container say that a second coat must be applired within 48 hours. How long does it take for latex floor paint to dry enough to walk on? 2 put furniture on?to put down area rug?
Might sound silly but I would wait a week. How long does it take for latex floor paint to dry enough to walk on? 2 put furniture on?to put down area rug?
It is hand of hard to say how long it will take. The weather is your biggest factor. If your first coat is still tacky after two day, that tells me that it is probably humid where you are. If you don't already, turn on some fans in the room. It should help in the drying proses.
How are you going to walk across a sticky/tacky floor to paint it without damaging the first coat?

You can tell when paint is fry by putting your hand on it. If it feels cold yet, it's not dry. Try this with a surface that's been painted before, and with paint you just put on an hour or two ago, and you'll feel a definite difference.

If I was going to put a rug down on top of a painted floor, I would be VERY SURE that the paint was very dry, or it'll stick to the floor.
I would guess you have high humidity in your home. That will slow the drying time. You may need to place fans to get the air circulating more.
Temperature and humidity are you too main factors in how fast it will dry. If your area is hot...close the A/C vent to that room...turn on ceiling fan if you have one or any fans you can put in there. If it's hot outside...open some windows. If it already cool or cold outside....turn up the heat and turn on more fans to help the floor dry. If your floor is still sticky or tacky...wait another day to put second coat on. As far as putting furniture on it...I would wait at least 2 days after it has lost that sticky/tacky feel. I would also wait another week before I put a rug down. If it has even the slightest amount of moisture in it...it will soften with that rug placed on top of it and stick to the bottom of the rug.
