How should I store my old latex paints?

They are in cans but they have rusted on the bottoms and lids. I think the cans might rust right through eventually.





I am thinking of opening them up and putting them in round plastic cannisters or new plastic coffee containers whose coffee is used up, or plastic butter containers or 2 gal bleach or vinegar plastic containers... capped and lidded of course, and then get rid of the old cans that are rusting. Any tips?How should I store my old latex paints?
Anything that is plastic and can be made airtight is OK. Try to fill the container as much as possible to eliminate air in the container. Add an anti mold additive.

Main problem of them drying up or gaining a skin over them is because of the oxygen on top of the paint and between the lid. Try to always reduce the air space between these so as your paint will store longer by reducing the jar size.
in all honesty if cans are that rusted paint is breaking down too-best to throw away-you can store it in anything that can be made air tight
you can actually buy new ';empty'; paint tins, from any large paint store, that sells paint only.
I would use a clean container with a screw-on lid to keep it air free.
